Mystic Cypress Swamps
There are few wild places in North America more magical than the bayous of Louisiana and their hidden stands of ancient cypress trees. Professional photographer Christian Heeb has been visiting these places for years. Photographer and course instructor Thomas Heitmar will be there this year.
On this photo tour, we’ll explore some of the hidden gems of Louisiana and Texas. From mist on the water to an abundance of bird life, we’ll find perfect photo opportunities from land, airboat, pontoon boat and sturdy sea canoes. We’ll probably see alligators before they retire for the winter. Our goal is to get you to the best place at the best possible time so you can take great pictures.
When we are on the water we work with local naturalist guides on site. This tour is rated as relatively easy, however you must be able to get in and out of a canoe independently and walk over rough terrain. You must also understand the operation and function of your camera.
Check out our photo gallery below and be inspired by images from past trips. Welcome to the bayous.
